Jones additionally clarified that the signal was entirely accidental, happening amid the elation following the team’s final touchdown. “I just showed the incorrect digit,” he noted. “The action was accidentally performed. This is sincere. If you want to call it unplanned, you can. But it got corrected rapidly.”

This is not the initial instance an NFL owner has been fined for misconduct. Recent examples include:
- Panthers proprietor Tepper was fined $300,000 for tossing a beverage at spectators in early 2024.
