The January transfer market is always a time of significant rumour and potential big-money deals. A number of notable stars are being connected to transfers out of their present teams. Here is a look at some of the key figures who could be changing clubs in January.

Antoine Semenyo

Despite Ghana's failure to reach the AFCON, which has kept the forward available, it appears a major move is close. This Bournemouth attacker has a deal with a £65 million release clause active for a short period at the start of the month. Recent developments suggest the Premier League champions are now the frontrunners for his signature. Former interested parties such as Chelsea and Tottenham reportedly have moved on to alternative targets, leaving teams like Manchester United or Liverpool to make a last-minute bid.

M. Guéhi

This English centre-back has continued to impress for Crystal Palace this season a summer move to Anfield collapsing. With his contract due to run out in the summer, this represents the club's final opportunity to obtain a transfer fee for their captain. Numerous top clubs, such as City and multiple continental powerhouses including Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, reportedly be interested. However, a winter departure is considered difficult, particularly given the coach's reliance on the player.

B. Johnson

The Wales winger has had first-team minutes limited at Spurs this campaign. Despite being the club's top scorer last season, Johnson has begun just a small number of Premier League matches. Reports suggest the London club is willing to consider a transfer for the correct valuation, believed to be in the region of £40 million. The Cherries are currently leading the chase, with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Brentford also credited with an interest.

Furthermore, there are rumours from Spain that he is prepared to take a pay cut for a move to the Spanish giants.

M. ter Stegen

This veteran German shot-stopper is now as the third option at Barcelona under the coach Flick. Having fallen out of favour and had an operation, a winter departure looks highly likely. Aston Villa were initially linked as a possible suitor, but that option currently seems unlikely. Instead, interest from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are thought to be showing interest in the keeper.

Ivan Toney

The proven English centre-forward has kept scoring frequently in Saudi Arabia. Coming back to the Premier League could boost his dwindling hopes of making the national World Cup. However, securing a deal presents major hurdles. His current club are reluctant to sell him, and his alleged enormous weekly wages render any move complicated. Tottenham, Manchester United, and Everton are all mentioned as interested parties.

The much-admired Dutch midfielder has earned parallels to a Belgian superstar for his style of play. After starring at the Under-19 European Championship, he has become a regular in the AZ side. The 19-year-old is heavily tipped to make a big-money transfer in January. Newcastle United are believed to be leading the chase, but could face strong rivalry from the Spanish champions for a signing valued at around £22 million.
