Vinted Members Voice Anger Regarding Sizing Modifications
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
The second-hand shopping app has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Reaction
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Updates
Previously, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Required Changes
A different user, from Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: previously, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
